#147578 RE: This Causes an Error #147577

In quantum mechanics there's something called the S-matrix
("scattering " matrix). It tells you the probability (when it is squared) that an asymptotically, long ago well defined, "initial state" will become any particular asymptotically, long in the future, "final state." That's all we can know. How the initial actually becomes the final state involves all possible ways, each weighted by a phase factor, and all summed up. There is no unique intermediate state..nature probes all states in the interim and barfs out the S-matrix. In certain cases we can compute S, like in electrodynamics, but in many (most) cases we cannot.

The discussion in here always devolves about specific instances, usually all bad because that's what nerds like to do...talk about all the bad things that can happen in their already pathetic and hopeless lives. Why, there's mcAfee, and the bone headed mobile stuff, and how pathetic the atom chip is, and how this or that competitor is eating their lunch (QCOM?), and who's transistor is smaller that who's? etc etc. These are some of the intermediate states that we have to sum over, each weighted by some phase factor, exp(i theta_s), to get the final S-matrix.

Of course, the discussion in here usually ignores overall income growth that seems to be happening despite the decline and fall of PC's, marketing, the entrenched reliability of the data center ensemble of products, and the raw good work that is done to make things reliable and move forward into future markets, and , hey, what about memory? etc. etc. There are many small things that add up and contribute to the S-matrix as well.

Somehow Intel, over the past 5 or so years I've been playing in it, has done well. I am a happy investor, though half as invested as I was a year ago, regretfully because I have paid too much attention to the balderdash in here. And frankly, the rancor in here, and the MF articles of one AE, were damning in the extreme. Somehow Intel survived and prospered. Many of the old condemnations seem to have gone away to be replaced by new ones.

However, Mr. VeeCee seems to have a better grasp of Intel, by looking at the overall S-matrix, than the nerds do who look only at a few of the pieces. I know what its like to be a minority voice in this space... I wonder how my buddy Borusa manages it? I usually get booted off by the wise-nerds for gross intransigence and violations of mouth-movement (or keyboard tapping). But when I see VeeCee treated like some unwelcomed, off-continent alien, when it is clear he can compute the S-matrix, and you can't, I say to the rest of you... " xxxxx "

(well I won't cause I'll get kicked off again.)

"Honesty ..."

Amusing but true.

You are repeating the same old stuff. Does Panasonic does not know all this. There must be niche market for these things that is why Panasonic brought this item to the market place.
Just admit that you don't know everything.
