Speaking of coal and MVTG, what does Southern Energy have to do with MVTG?
I bought shares of SO-shortly before I started buying MVTG shares, both for the same sector reasons. I had hoped that Larry through the DOE could get an ERC funded with them. SO is I think the only US electric utility building a new nuclear and coal fired power plant the last 8 years in the USA. They also have some DOE R&D plant efforts related to CO2 capture..coal and so on that relate to the MVTG ERC opportunity that are in the news today. I have not had time to keep up with what they are doing exactly, but you all might want to dig deeper into todays news and what it might mean for MVTG.
" ...information regarding the schedule and cost estimate for Mississippi Power’s integrated coal gasification combined cycle project in Kemper County, Mississippi (the “Kemper IGCC”). .the cost cap set by the Mississippi PSC of $2.88 billion, net of $245 million of grants awarded to the project by the U.S. Department of Energy under the Clean Coal Power Initiative Round 2 (the “Initial DOE Grants”) and excluding the cost of the lignite mine and equipment, the cost of the carbon dioxide pipeline facilities....The schedule reflects the time expected to complete the integration of all systems necessary for both combustion turbines to simultaneously generate electricity with syngas. The next steps for the facility include the integrated operation of both gasifiers. Each gasifier previously has produced electricity using clean syngas. Sustaining adequate nitrogen supply, among other items, remains a risk to achieving integrated operation of both gasifiers."
