felix: I have only been able to find one active case involving Hillcrest. It is a CAFC appeal case (16-1738) of a USPTO decision against that was filed by Movea Inc. All briefs have been filed and they setting up a hearing date.
Movea was in the same business as Hillcrest. What is interesting is that Movea was acquired by Invensemse (NYSE: INVN) which was a provider of tMotionTracking™ sensor system on chip (SoC) for consumer electronic devices such as smartphones.
“Movea has a broad and deep portfolio of motion sensing algorithms which it has been licensing to smart TV makers for pointable remote controls, to wearable makers for applications from wrist bands to tennis rackets as well as to microcontroller makers of smart sensor hubs. All of these markets are ones that Invensense wants to get further into, and acquisitions is one of the fastest way to expand in growing markets.”
In turn, earlier this month “TDK Corp. agreed to buy InvenSense Inc. in a deal that values the supplier of sensors to Apple Inc. and other smartphone makers at about $1.3 billion."
