Nascar evolved from moonshiners in Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia and other southern states getting together on the weekends to race their moonshine hauling cars.

Anyone that has ever driven in the mountains of the states I mentioned know it would take a very powerful car and a ton of skill to take a car full of moonshine and stay ahead of and lose the "revenooers".

The road courses are a lot closer to the roots of Nascar than the circle tracks.

That said,

I find road course races extremely boring to watch on TV.

I'm sure I would love to drive on a road course, but the races bore me to watch them.
