so, the market maker is keeping the price low so an institution (or several) can accumulate inexpensive shares? Following that logic, would that not make the market maker short shares to the institutions? Why would the MM want to be short in the face of institutions accumulating?

IMHO, it has nothing to do with MM's and everything to do with computerized trading. The huge volume you have seen these last few days reflects computers trading the same shares over and over again among themselves based on their algorithms which generate tiny profits for them on every trade but significant profits when considering how many trades they make in a day. Unfortunately, it does distort the market but most of the computers will go away before too long and the price will eventually end up where it is supposed to be, which is higher.

Fabius...your summation is correct about the MM. the problem is once that some "one" has accumulated there is nothing to move the price. they will have got their stake at say $2 through their trading and suppressed the price on all the good news and then nothing to propel the price afterwards. its been that way for sometime. I just got use to it. so in reality if you have realistic expectation your not disappointed. at this rate we will be lucky to hit $5 on Rexista partnership. not a bad increase from the $1.60 a few months back but not the $10 to $20 a share people expect.

Good Breakdown Fabius,
I fell the same way. Someone is wanting a larger chunk, and it is being manipulated to keep the PPS as low as possible to continue the accumulation. Strange trading to say the least. Sure there is some profit taking going on, but watching it run up 20-30% then be beat back down for only a 5-10% gain is just laughable. This should be moving north much quicker and a larger gap up. I really do hope some company makes a public offer to buy out IPCI, then we will have a true valuation of the company, and the PPS will respond accordingly.
Good Luck my Friend!
LONG IPCI!
