There are true penny stocks, like small biotech companies that are in the clinical trial phase of their first commercial drug or a host of less scrupulous startups. However, with SUNE this was the largest alternative energy developer in the world. It has facilities and projects on several continents that will generate hundreds of millions, even billions in multi-decade power generation.
The management played with fire and overextended itself trying to take even more market share. This is not a traditional penny stock and it's certainly not worth 5 cents. It's either worth negative $5 a share or $10+ a share. This penny business is based on people betting on the odds of survival.
