Maybe you are not aware that FDA regulations were preventing a certain company from allowing compassionate use for one of their drugs without causing their trial to fail. Advocates in the case of this boy, who had no other chance to live without this drug, we're very vociferous and aggressive towards FDA and the company CEO who received death threats. FDA finally gave the clearance needed due to the pressure. Denzel Washington starred in a movie where a Dad holds hospital employees hostage until his son got life saving surgery. In the movie he went to prison but his son survived. That is the kind of desperation I am talking about.
