What a game the Red Sox had with Tampa. In the game the Red Sox pitchers set a record striking out 11 batters in a row and also got 17 straight outs by strike out. They also struck out 21 Tampa batters in a 9 inning game and struck out two more in the tenth for 23 in all. The winning run was scored by Dustin Pedroia who tried to score from 1st on a Ortiz double. He should have been out by fifteen feet but danced around the first tag and then jumped over the second try but the catcher tag him n the third but lost the ball as Pedroia flopped on top of him. Because the game went extra I don't think they count the 21 strikeouts in 9 innings as a record.
