An 8k WILL BE needed to be filed with the SEC

that's not how it works. a company can't just say "we're done" and the symbol just goes away. the only way for the company to make the symbol go away is through bankruptcy court. it doesn't even matter if the company says they have no business, the ticker could trade for years as a zombie shell.
