Dear Nick:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding AcnEase.

AcnEase prevents pimples from forming, which is the way it was developed. It will not make you run faster or jump higher , it simply makes acne pimples disappear which is no small feat. No other topical products prevent pimples from forming but rather treat them after they appear.

Whether or not you will need to take a maintenance dose in a large part depends on the severity of your acne and for how long you have suffered from acne and your genetic makeup (see below)

Regarding Herborium if you look into acne blogs or social media (facebook, twitter etc.) you will see Herborium is very much alive and AcnEase continues to be one of the most recommended herbal products for acne in the country.

Background on Acne and Maintenance Dose Requirements:

Acne is actually a rather complex disease, the clinical manifestation is rather simple pimples! What is driving the formation of pimples is what is more complex. For instance some women have an over secretion of the adrenal glands that leads to elevated levels of testosterone (an androgen) in their blood which is the cause of acne. For some during adolescents there may be a large growth spurt with very high levels of hormones for others it is linked to their menstrual cycle. Genetic variation is also a large contributing factor, if parents had acne it is likely their children will also have acne. The common denominator is over production of sebum by the sebaceous glands which leads to clogged pores where dead skin cells accumulate and provide an ideal environment for the growth of bacteria.

The length of treatment and dose of AcnEase is also dependent on a number of factors including:

· Is your acne mild, moderate or severe

· Is your acne chronic (lasting for over a year)

· Do you have cystic acne (bumps under the skin)

· Do you have inflammatory acne (pustules and papules)

· Is your acne primarily comedones (black heads and white heads)

· Is you acne restricted to your face or also present on your torso (back and chest

· Are you preadolescent, teenage or adult

All of these factors in addition to your own genetic makeup will contribute to how you respond to AcnEase, the dose you will need to take and the duration of treatment.

Having said all of this the majority of people do see a marked improvement within 1 month of starting AcnEase. At this time you can switch to a maintenance dose or stop taking AcnEase and wait to see if the pimples return. To give perspective a course of Accutane treatment can range from 6-12 months. Topical agents can be used over years which only treat the symptoms of acne but not the cause.

If you do not want to take a maintenance dose we understand but at the end of the month you start seeing a significant improvement you should consider weaning yourself off from higher to lower dose of AcnEase and not abruptly stopping. For instance if you were taking 12 tablets/day

(4 tablets 3 times/day) move to 8 tablets/day ( 4 tablets twice a day) for 2-3 weeks and see if your symptoms do not intensify again. After those few weeks you may get to the yet lower dose until you end with 2x3 tablets/day or even 2x2 tablets daily. If your skin remains clear then there is no need for a maintenance dose and you can stop taking AcnEase all together. Should acne look like it is reappearing you can take AcnEase for a week or two at your highest dose to stop new pimples in their track!!

Below is a link to the most common regimen for moderate acne for men.

Please note that for men with moderate acne we actually recommend the higher dose as men produce more androgens that are recognize as a main culprit in stimulation acne.
