Just a uneducated guess. If the DMC checked the stop box and if company decided on a stop. They will see the data on the spot which will result in a halt in trading soon after. That's why management need to be there for the meeting.
SL opined that it could be to look at the data, if they decide to stop, but I disagree - they will not be making any decisions on the spot. Also, why even have this meeting is the recommendation is to continue, since nothing will be unblinded (and discussed?)
