I can just imagine the statement coming out that "These assets are being returned as property of the estate. Due to the tumultuous times and the need to keep operations running, our focus was clearly on the functioning of the Bank itself. After extensive research, it was found that theee assets were, in effect, property of the Holding Co. and were therefore not part of the Purchase and Assumption agreement." ...or something akin to this :)

You can do history of sales on the property if you know the address of one of Wamu Banks on City's or County's real estate website.
It will show the owner of the property.
