VERNIER, Switzerland (AP) _ Transocean Ltd. (RIG) on Wednesday reported second-quarter profit of $77 million.
On a per-share basis, the Vernier, Switzerland-based company said it had net income of 21 cents. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 17 cents per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 14 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 1 cent per share.
The offshore oil and gas drilling contractor posted revenue of $943 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $914.4 million.
