Yes, the chip sector is seeing many mergers and acquisitions. Even the photonics sector is heating up. Look at the recent IPO of Acacia Communications. The stock has doubled in the last 2 months with a market cap of $2.3 billion. One of their products is a highly integrated full duplex Silicon Photonics single-chip PIC. Acacia Communications was founded in 2009. Just 7 years later the company is sporting a market cap of over $2 billion. IMHO, LWLG has the potential to far exceed Acacia's market cap. In fact, Acacia's IPO bodes well for LWLG. While Acacia's technology may be an incremental improvement over legacy tech, LWLG's technology is a complete paradigm shift in (hybrid) silicon photonics. Hence the name polymer photonics. Pretty cool when the Chair of the PIC International Conference is putting LWLG front and center at the conference.
