Based on your theory, you are assuming dilution or some other kind of funding to support on going trials. Very possible if data is great.

Question is whether a buyout is off the table because there was either nobody willing, or nobody was willing to pay the price or a buyout is not considered a strategic option.

The latter sounds good but still money and expertise are needed to run the bigger p2/3 trial and guide through all the Fda steps towards approval. Next would then be manufacturing, distribution, marketing,... Not exactly a company with less then 10 employees can do on its own

You'll have to explain how Dr. M's new contract has any relation to a BP partnership or buyout. I don't see any correlation.
