If you 'cultivate reliable sources' and they provide 'private, closely held information, the kind of stuff companies don't want made public...' then as far as I'm concerned that's a good definition of a mole, if not a hacker.
I trust if any insider/market-sensitive information comes your way, that you are very careful to ensure that you or any associate of yours does not benefit from such information.
