#7623 RE: faxorama #7622

faxorama, With the focus on how Bavi performs in HCV trials, I think it worthwhile to remind investors that PPHM selected the HCV trials as a means for introducing the Bavi viral platform development. If Bavi gets 4 log HCV reductions with repeat dosing, that would truly be remarkable. Bavi has already demonstrated that it is safe and well tolerated in humans after a single dose application and by this fall, should be able to affirm safety with the multiple dose study results. Some efficacy along with demonstrated safety with single or multiple doses should open the door for PPHM to initiate trials for the array of other viruses they wish to target, ranging from HIV to bird flu to CMV or ?, in either solo or combo trials. I see delivering a four log reduction from the multi dose HCV trials as being a prospective means for speeding along the progress towards these other trials and making procurement of funding easier, but even solo Bavi treatment that gives less than a two log reduction but shows the virus isn't rebounding back-- or whatever results along those lines-- as still sufficing to allow PPHM to proceed with their planned combo treatments.

It is somewhat unfortunate that prospective competition with Vertex is being postured, but it has become a minor issue since Papa Alien started citing Vertex developments a few months back. IMO, demonstrating better success than VRTX for HCV should be viewed as more of an incidental or secondary goal here-- a "windfall" of sorts as Bavi goes through the trial process. The prospect of Bavi replacing interferon and all its nasty side effects as part of standard of care combination treatment seems a better fit with the PPHM business plan, as does the application of Bavi to other viral indications in a way that other drugs are not suited or capable. Can Bavi do the job by itself against HCV? Nice if it can, but it may not need to in order to be viewed as a blockbuster new antiviral drug. There are parallels to Bavi anticancer, as well.
Best wishes and IMO.
