#62755 RE: joshalex5 #62754

It means general research is finally catching on to what Anavex has taken as its working hypothesis for years, that amyloid plaques are not the single root cause of Alzheimer's. Instead, Alzheimer's more likely stems from a confluence of upstream factors such as inflammation, oxidative stress, tau hyper-phosphorylation, calcium deficiency, and mitochondrial dysfunction.

Conveniently (but not accidentally), Anavex 2-73 appears to address every one of those potential root causes. The past few years have seen a steady stream of academic articles validate that hypothesis, as well as some very slow recognition by the FDA, BP, and the press that maybe we should stop banging our heads against the wall with the failed amyloid-plaque hypothesis.
