I am aware of those web sites. . . The NIJ link is and has been posted in the I-box for some time.

My research included the NIJ site[s] and the companies selling vests, very few of which had NIJ certification, claiming an 'equivalent protection'. Some companies would have a level II cert and also had level III vests for sale with 'equivalent' NIJ III protection
