You guys here are very good with the fundamental story and the science.which helps me alot. At this point in time, with the whole stock market ready to collapse again,and with the biotech sector not looking bullish this year , since last summer when it peaked. this might not be the greatest time for folks to start learning how to trade, with TA...because its a long process to learn, and time might be running out for this whole stock market . the better use of any trading and investing these days, might be to follow the guidance of those who understand trading and the greater market analysis, and look for the warning signs,and try to take profits at the tops and not be buying too much of anything now. AVXL is one of the few biotechs I own now, and it is special, I dont want to sell half,but I might some day, have to,if it looks like another crash is happening. I think what might be helpful now, as far as learning how to use TA in charting...maybe just go to my forum and read the posts, ask questions. I dont mind explaining things if you can stand the excruciating details.
My charting set up starts with the basics like the key moving averages, 20/50/200, on the daily and weekly charts. I add bollinger bands, daily and weekly, always looking at daily and weekly together. I look at intraday as well. Citrati usually has a sharp read about short time frame charts.My focus tends to be longer swing time frames.
I use some complex tools as well,like the Ichimoku cloud, and I count elliott waves.
