While I am certainly no fan of statins in most cases, I find this bit below just as bad as real ignored side effects of statins - placebo effect extremely strong in this case - wonder if the study quoted was truly blind? Doesn't appear so - and author provides no citations to back up his claims either:

A recent paper published in JAMA concluded nearly 43 per cent of people taking atorvastatin over 10 weeks suffered side-effects compared to 26 per cent of those on dummy pills, a 61 per cent increased risk.
