No. Government followed the rules to conserve and conserve... the country, not a small group of investors. A lot of people get wiped out in wars, too. But the good of the many trumps the interests of the few. Taking action in times of extreme duress is what the government is supposed to do. Just like in war times. And, yes, with the clarity added of 20/20 hindsight, you might even conclude that some wars we waged were unjustified, stupid or even illegally pursued in the sense of never being affirmed by Congress or funded in any budget. But you can't bring back those lost in the conflict.

If you want to erect a memorial to Fannie investors that lost money, I doubt you would get very many contributions from donors.
