Because that's how real business works! You show proof of sales, demand, financials, etc before you take investors money. Like I said, easy to get unsophisticated ihubbers to buy but imagine RXSF going on shark tank right now....yes we have a fingerprint Rx safe that is already out WITH many competitors already doing the same...but no proof we can sell it yet. "Just trust us and give us 25 million" ~ "oh yea and buy the way, we want your money, but we have already paid ourself 7 figures in company stock" how does that sound? You think mark Cuban would go for that or would they all laugh and send them out the door?

Simple RXSF Answer, You don't OVERBUILD in the neighborhood your in.
Salary and B's were already incorporated and on the books. This is EXTRA PAY. why pay the m until they finish and sell the house a bonus.When you sell the HOUSE, take the ALL the Extra $$$$. Doesn't hurt existing shareholder, but leaves potential "shareholder" moving into the neighborhood questioning why an architect would design and someone would build house with no COMPS around it???
