"Newisys in trouble?"

Sad if true. I have been dubious about their business model from the beginning, although they have managed to get more designs that I would have thought by this time.

Who's acquiring Newisys? IBM? I guess they are, collecting all balls together into same pants.

Pity our dear AMD may be gone soon, I see no fun to play IBM, they are too big to be understandable to private investor. Maybe I'll go ATI-nVidia. Maybe QQQ.

Haddock, Newisys: What we don't know is the overall game plan (of the founders & financiers). Many companies start up with the idea of bringing a product to market and then cashing in by selling to a larger company. The list of reasons in that article look pretty speculative to me - why would the lack of Itanium success hurt Newisys? I don't go for the coattails theory at all. Didn't we long know Microsoft was not going to release until the end of the year?

So, I would not be surprised if Newisys was ready to cash in. If they are picked up by a strong company who is committed to the Opteron platform then it is a positive. (Of course, if no one wants them, then it means trouble.)

P.S.: When I first read the name 'Newisys', my thoughts were that this company can't plan to stay around long with a name like that! Another put-out-a-quick-product-and-cash-in scheme.
