Placebo arms do present ethical dilemmas. But they are vital for eliminating the very real placebo effect. And you can't use the placebo arm from a different trial at a different site at a different time with different investigators and different tests and different conditions and different participant criteria, just because it was for a comparator drug. Too many differences.
