The company didn't have the option to pay off the bridge loan in shares. It was the choice of the loan shark. The loan shark did not have to take the shares even if the company did not have the cash. We don't know if they have a claim against the company.
To find out what the final outcome was you may want to ask one of the bridge loan people who like to selectively show-up on your home base.
