I disagree with your final conclusion. Wave was definitely in big trouble when Solms took over. However if only half of what I heard about Billy boys tenure is true he was a completely incompetent egomaniac with no understanding of how the software industry worked. You only had to listen to him speak to realize he just did not fit in, or understand the cyber security world.
Its plainly obvious his brother got him his job at Microsoft after the defense dept. It's also plainly obvious they must have got rid of him once his DOD rolodex was expired.

Waves final failure lays firmly in his and the boards court. The board is certainly culpable in failing to properly vet bill for the job. As to whether they conspired to push out lies as truths in PRs has yet to be proved. But is certainly suspected at least in my mind.
