Forget the rubber tipped ammo. Buy a bolt action 30-06 and shoot 500 yards shots with 150 or 165 grain Nosler ballistic tip bullets. If you want to give the game a sporting chance try a 45-70 with 405 grain lead-or a large rock.
Spec My wife has a Marlin 336 30-30 that she used to hunt with. It would digest any ammo except the Noseler Partitions. Sighted in at 1 3/4 high at 100 it was dead on at 250. Plus it would shoot a 1 inch group at 100 yards. Best 30-30 I have ever seen out of the box. She now shoots a Remington 260. Alot less kick and its extremely flat shooting. PL
