VERY few people can shoot 500 yards with accuracy on a consistant basis in a hunting situation. I myself wouldnt even consider a shot that far and I shoot alot. My light magnums have a drop of 43 inches at 500 yards. I cant even imagine what a normal load would drop at 500 yards. Not to mention the loss of foot pounds of energy at that yardage. I do know some people who have some big caliber custom rifles that they take elk hunting and have taken shots at 400 yards. These very experienced hunters have yet to make a clean kill at that yardage. PL
