Did you also "read an article"?

Retail that is failing is trying to cut it's size, while holding onto the profitable stores. They are trying to become just like Mills Fleet Farm.

Yes, sporting goods! Have you considered the markets/locations Mills serves? It's filled with the needed target audience. Why isn't Mills failing? Why did KKR persue Mills so passionately? I believe because the store is positioned perfectly for this market. While other retail spends Millions to cut the fat, and survive this market, Mills is already lean and mean. When reatail comes back, and it will, Mills is already positioned to make moves without all the extra cost of repositioning and cutting of stores in failure.

Bottom line, Mills Fleet Farm is in a great position, and is doing well. Also, much room for growth. The midwest areas it serves are doing well, and has room for more Mills stores.

Everyone should be so lucky as to have Mills In play with WMIH.

Tossing more info out there. The Mills family (previous owners of MFF) were trying to pursue expansion which they were unable to do without outside funding. Hence the sale to KKR.

Not many people have been to Mills Fleet Farm (especially since many don't live near one). I have. It's more like a rural walmart. The products cater to outdoors enthusiasts and farmers.

Redneck walmart but clean and organized? No offense to rednecks. Hard to describe the atmosphere unless you've been in one of the stores.

Think of it like a Walmart/Cabelas/Bass Pro/Gander Mountain/Academy Sports/Target/Tractor Supply/Home Depot all rolled into one.
