"Surprise" won't matter. IMO - I think the hit pieces are already written and ready to go as soon as Anavex releases the data, in whatever fashion it does (PR, conference, interview by Dr. M.). They and those that back them are still at WAR with Anavex and its supporters. More lawsuits are in the hopper, too, depending how successful they are in punishing the SP.
This time it might be more bare knuckles with the hope of an early KO. Besides the usual attacks of too small a sample, no placebo, et al, this time they might target Dr. Mac Farlane and his credentials ("he's a quack"); where the enrollees really suffering from AD and to what extent (faked illness to get better healthcare services); attack the Aussie health system; and, criticize the findings (woefully insignificant), etc.
Part of their efforts will be to discredit Anavex such that it might not get an FDA go-ahead or NIH funding.
Shorts might not be as obvious, as MS was, in a coordinated attack, but they will not lie down because of a single small sized study looks great ... they will go for the jugular, hoping to stop and Anavex in its tracks and eliminate it as a company.
So, stay committed to Anavex and to our brother/sisterhood of shareholders ... do not part with your stock ... it is the only way to beat these B******* and protect the best chance to develop effective treatments against this terrible disease and other diseases.
