As far as I can tell there is only one Alz drug that is not generic. Namenda. Like 2-73 Plus, it is a combo with donepezil. Given that all other drugs are off patent, I think it more likely that bigger pharma's would want to partner with AVXL than try to sabotage. Just my opinion.
Though I think you are correct about breakthroughs in the past. And the exciting technology AVXL has.
