This year, so far, my own best performer was an IP company (the bu$$), naturally, one looks at markets the size of the DRAM or chip markets for other IP companies that could have a home run.
No one standard will dominate any company can come up with its own standrad with slight deviation from others and call something else i.e. WCDMA, CDMA200, etc...
This is exactly how WCDMA was born, nobody in this sector wants any one entity to have full control, but QCOM may nearly do that and their patent portfolio almost assures them of this. They will more than likely get paid something by nearly everybody.
