In addition, I am thinking the science has yet to get to where it needs to be for the higher end fibers. Someone knows how high molecular weight proteins work in a centrifuge. They need to get to the point where they can produce high molecular weight spider silk proteins at a much higher rate per batch. We won't know these facts for quite a while and as things are, they can only look at the apparel business for at least 3 years. Talk about QC....if they are making rope from yeast, consistency would have to be through the roof. Otherwise the weakest link principle comes into play and you have 2 ropes. Yeah, they are going to make things sound better than they are. So how anyone can say these private companies will beat KBLB is beyond me....words are cheap. Especially since Dragon silk is ready for scale and sale...whatever that means specifically. Imagine having multimillionaires investing in your goo and hearing that Dragon Silk is a 2Gpa fiber. That alone is close to making someone rethink further investment. Those investors are not in it for the apparel industry.
