Nationalized. Oil money is the backbone of Nigeria's economy.

Spent a lot of time in Africa and Nigeria is 'very well' financed.

nwsun. With 25% of the population as carriers...
they will find a way to pay the bill. Charity groups, government, Uncle Sam, somehow the medicine will be made available and the bill will be paid. It would be much more expensive to do otherwise if you consider lost productivity, health care costs, etc.

Nigeria has a public health system that is modeled after Great Britain's. Not as well-funded, but it does guarantee certain health benfits to all citizens. I believe (jmho) that this drug will be one that is covered for those who cannot afford it.

The government is the largest employer and all gov employees are covered by a comprehensive health plan.

Do a search on Google and you can find info on it.

People have pointed out that the average Nigerian lives on $2 a day. I believe this drug will be heavily subsidized by the government , and will be a popular product to charities and aid agencies (Bill Gates Foundation, U.N. , etc etc).

The country is awash in petro dollars lately, and you better believe they will do what it takes to keep the people healty and happy to sustain their profits. Even if they didn't, would you pay 20-30% of your income for treatment for your debilatating disease ($60 a month / 12-20$ a month for NICOSAN)? I would.
