Correct, and Japan has national healthcare superior to ours and will be the second economy to have a major impact from the Silver Tsunami. Access to the Asian market and scientists would be another advantage to doing trials in Australia, IMO.
Yes - the Japanese government could at some point elect to approve based on earlier data. They could also finance trials in their country.
