When you take out that many buyers home prices will plummet. I guess all the money going into the rental market makes a lot more sense.

43% is news to me - I admit

but having been around the block a few times and more

during normative interest rate times

the OLD rule of thumb is do not buy a house more than 2.5x your income

assuming some down payment

I think that works out to a mortgage load of about 40% ??
