DIDDY..If I am correct that they pulse THROUGH the sample and look at interference bands instead of bouncing the signal off the sample, (so to speak) then crushing them will not work.

The sample would still be UV opaque.

If I am NOT correct..and it is just a speculative theory.. then crushing the pills to a standardized powder will work, as you say.

But the theory that I worked out explains why they have gone liquid..apparently exclusively..and abandoned the pill checker..

That and ASD's patent.

diddy: The pills were NOT crushed and they were NOT liquified in order to identify. I saw it working right in front of me. crow started that "fact" with a wrong presumption then extrapolated from there. You guys really need to stop feeding the paranoia bonfire around here.
