They can and do loan shares from non-margin accounts too... I know whereof I speak.

Who is your broker? I have Fidelity. They will not loan from an account which is fully paid by cash.

So, since you know, how can you prevent them from loaning out your shares? Also, you sure they are not breaking the law?
