Those wacko orders are always hanging out there on both sides. But as we saw back in June, you can push the price up alot for actually not that much money.
My read of those big orders was just people reacting to one another by matching what someone else is doing. Not really that interesting since they never get filled or affect the price.
The more interesting thing to me, is someone keeps pushing the price slightly up, or at least not letting it go down. Every time an order goes off below the ask, there's a small fill at or above the ask soon after. Like 100@.0825. I don't think anybody is fooled by this strategy, but it keeps the mark showing in the green.
