Not at all. I do feel for them. But they need to understand that litigation turns on the law, not on whether the judge sympathizes with people who feel they've been unfairly treated. He may sympathize, but he may also not give them the consideration they want.
The bottom line is that Mr Market has many lessons to teach, and many of them are unpleasant. The best anyone can do is try to learn those lessons, and to anticipate possible danger.
In the end, it doesn't really matter whether you got giddy with leverage, or you put all your money in one stock. You made a mistake.
