How about obtaining at least some of their energy from windmills and solar panels, as Denmark, Norway and Sweden are doing. Germany does not seem to be shutting down either...more windmills every time I visit those countries, on or off-shore.

I just returned from S.Dak.---last visit there had been 5 years ago. Flying in and out from/to Mpls, I was amazed at the number of white towers standing in fields that were mostly bereft of them 5 years ago. Same for western Minnesota that we flew over. My uncles who farmed there when I grew up got their light from less elegant- looking windmills in the '40s---the wind does blow rather constantly, quite like the winds between Palm Springs and L.A.

Today ITC has quite a business transmitting that electricity east- ward; it has been a steady dividend-paying value stock for us since our investment in late 2009 with a LTCG of 86% and basis of ~$17.

Unfortunately you are accurate and this is going to be a real issue for Canada. It is important to have all sources of energy but Canada needs oil to grow.
