I agree. What a crock of crap to let any player crowd the plate. As a pitcher that is derespecting the game letting that go on.

It wouldn’t do any good.

The reason Ortiz can crowd the plate is that he hits the fastball in on the hands as well as anyone I’ve ever seen. I don’t know how he gets around on those pitches, but he keeps doing it.

The Phillies threw at him twice on Friday night. I missed yesterday's game because I went to the Trop to see the Devil Rays outlast Atlanta.

My wife and I had a great time. We went to the beach in the afternoon and followed that up with dinner and the ballgame. We had great seats, the second row from the field, right by the visitor's bullpen.

We have the same exact seats for the Red Sox on July the fourth. We decided to go ahead and buy tickets for the third and just stay over while we were there yesterday. We are going to a game against the Yankees on the ninth. It will be a busy week!
