No, you're not missing a thing. I've experienced too many losses following a RS, and not to mention there is a reason why so many investors buy penny stocks - it's all about the volume. Nobody wants to see that evaporate due to a RS. Speaking for myself, I'll but 10k shares of a stock at $1.30 before I'll buy 1000 shares at $13.00. Yes, I understand they're the same value, but a $1.30 stock will run faster than a stock at $13.00. Look at AAPL if you want to see an example of what happens when and why a stock splits - it makes it more attractive to the retail investors.
