Alcoa Completes Expansion of Tennessee Facility to Meet Strong Demand for Aluminum Vehicles

11:36 AM EDT, 09/24/2015 (MT Newswires) -- Alcoa(AA) , a company that produces and manages primary aluminum, fabricated aluminum, and alumina worldwide, said Thursday that it has completed an expansion at its Tennessee facility dedicated to supplying aluminum sheet to the automotive industry.
The plant will provide aluminum sheet to automakers that include Ford Motor Company(F) , Fiat Chrysler Automobiles(FCAU) and General Motors(GM) .
The $300 million project in Tennessee is Alcoa's(AA) second major automotive expansion in North America backed by long-term customer contracts. The first, in Davenport, Iowa, reported record volume of automotive sheet shipments in Q215, up some 200% from Q214.
Shares are down 2.9% at $8.93, with a 52-week range of $7.97 - $17.75.
