"they have over a trillion dollars in reserves" As of this moment they have between $600-$650 billion and at these current prices are running a deficit of about $15 billion a month. They can ill afford to even come close to depleting their reserves as this would destabilize their dominance. At best they can maintain these prices for months, not years.
