You confuse hatred with the desire to see a team fail.

In some cases, I don't confuse hatred at all.

I can see why you would want the Yankees to fail when the Red Sox are in contention for a playoff spot or a trip to the World Series.

What I don't understand is why you would root against the Yankees if they make the World Series.

Most people have an allegiance to either the American League or the National League it seems. You are a Red Sox fan which would make me believe that you are an American League fan as well.

Do you (or would you) root for the Yankees if they get to the World Series?

I would root for whichever AL team gets to the World Series unless they were playing against the Mets. My allegiance would be to a NY team first.

Yankees are the best in their sport bar none.

Celtics at one time were the same.

Montreal Canadians ditto in hockey.
