No, cancer vaccines is not a new way of thinking about cancer treatment. Its been around much longer than CI. Big Pharma got burned with cancer vaccines before so I don't think they are slow in coming around to the idea that vaccines can be effective on their own. BUT the limitations of CI shows that combos are the next step to pursue which may include vaccinations and ADXS is an example of big pharma dipping their toes in again with cancer vaccines. Other smaller companies are continuing to try to use cancer vaccines as a preventative treatment for prevention or delay of reoccurence. The question on my mind is not whether cancer vaccines work or not or whether dcvaxL works or not, but rather how well does it work and how can they be tweaked to work better to rival the results of CIs. This is why it bothers me to find out that NWBO and Dr. Liau abandoned their dc vaccine protocol that was tested successfully in their earlier pI studies in GBM to try another method in a much bigger pII/III trial without any clear testing in more pI comparative studies. Its a big gamble on their part on such assumption. Maybe NWBO should have kept this GBM pIII trial into a smaller pII trial and finished it 2yrs ago. But the decision was made a long time ago and we'll see the results hopefully soon for everyone's sake.
