IMO the FDIC is trapped, & is trying to find a solution so they don't have to admit wrong doing by taking WM. on the other hand if they do return then there will also be a lot of questions.

If what you're saying is true, why would they at this time? There are still a few considerable claims against the estate that needs to be "expunged" or "settled", before making any such announcement. If considerable assets were found and revealed to the court/creditors, these very claimants would all begin clamoring for payment, making the debtors effort to have them voided even harder. At this point, any "hidden" assets should remain same, at least until all bankruptcy matters are resolved.
