That is not how the law works in western societies.
The plaintiff (Steve Saleen) filed the lawsuit against the Defendent (Fred).
The accuser has to prove his case not the accused.
Ever heard of innocent until proven guilty? Been around since George Washington in this country.
The burden of proof is on Steve to prove both defamation and damages.
He has no case and he will lose.
